Conscious Joy: Budding Souls

“And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.”  ~ Anais Nin

Jeff Brown,  author of “Soulshaping: Adventures in Self-Creation,” (isn’t that a fantastic title!)  and the man with the hypgnotic* eyes, shared this Nin quote on his Facebook  page today and it hit me as such a profound truth that I asked permission to “snag” it from him and post it on my own Facebook page .  He wrote back “its all yours Joy..one of my favorite quotes from Soulshaping.. The Ninster knew best..” and then I decided to share it here, too.  As I told Jeff, it’s just too good not to share in an even wider way.

It also seems to me that lately, so many more of my moment to moment consciousness expresses this same truth.  It is such an infinite, scary, glorious process of unfolding into …. what ?!?

We don’t know what.

And that is the beautiful mystery, isn’t it?  The one that leads us on.

Deeper and deeper.

Higher and higher.

That’s Jeff up there ^

*Hypgnotic:  A state of consciousness in which what is known as God can be personally experienced.

Check out Jeff’s website .  He’s got some really cool free stuff over there such as podcasts, book excerpts, his blog and also a bursary program  which offers soul help to those those that are in need but don’t have the funds.  That in itself is an indication that this guy is the real thing.

And, for anyone that is interested…”Soulshaping: Adventures in Self-Creation” is on my Christmas wish list!

Hi – I hope you don’t mind me commenting but I was following a random trail through blog space and came across yours.

I wanted to comment on your online ‘dating’ experience, but then I read the rest of your entries and felt that you might really be in need of a virtual hug.

    (((((((((((((((((((hug)))))))))))))))))))))))))

My impression of you is of someone who is looking for something to make them feel complete, valued, loved. While all the spiritual journies you undertake are interesting and often inspiring the only place you will find peace is from within.

It doesn’t actually take regular meditation (though thats nice if you can fit it in) it doesn’t take the words or books of others, and it certainly doesn’t involve you ‘changing’ into something of a higher spiritual being. It is you already, it is in all of us, to accept that we are who we are, that our impefections are as beautiful as our good bits, because they add to the person who is ‘you’.

We can’t really appreciate joy until we’ve known sadness, and love and hate are the opposite sides of the same coin, we each have the potential for both good and bad, even if we always choose to be ‘good’.

I feel that you are too hard on yourself, that you measure yourself against others and find yourself lacking, while you do this you will also look at potential partners and find them lacking also.

No one is perfect, each of us is unique, accepting the flaws in yourself and then in others is the nearest we can get to godliness.

    There is a poem Desiderata

“.. beyond a wholesome discipline be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars: you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

My advice to you is to stop looking so hard for your destination and enjoy your journey. You are special, intelligent, thoughtful, inquizative and loving, and probably a whole lot more that I haven’t picked up in your blog.

Relax, enjoy and learn to laugh at yourself occasionally, and feel free to delete this if you wish.

    Wishing you a joyous Christmas

    Hmmmmmm….

I’m not one to ever, ever turn away a sincere hug, so thank you!

However, although I might be totally in denial (can we ever be fully sure we are not?) I’ve never felt happier and more fulfilled in my entire life. I am enjoying the journey…in fact, I AM the journey!

And, in my case, I must say that it DOES take regular meditation. In fact, I would say that I owe not only my happiness, but my very sanity to a daily practice of meditation. I also recommend it to all of my clients. It is the easiest way to remind ourselves of our true nature, which is Love.

So, thank you, Noseycow, for your loving concern, but in this one case, it might just be misplaced.
    :o )
